hartford Care-care industry newsHartford Care is a growing care company which currently operates a total of 12 homes with 7 in and around the New Forest and Southampton area.  They have a real mission to become both the Home of choice for older people and also the employer of choice for fantastic care staff.  Treating its team members with genuine respect and dignity has long since been central to its ethos but now they are adding another great reason to join their team.

Hartford Care have recently announced that they will be one of the best paying companies in the health and social care sector in our local area.   As from 1st October all care staff that hold a Health and Social Care Qualification will be paid a minimum of £8.00 per hour.

Sean Gavin CEO of Hartford Care said:  “This is fantastic news not only for our staff but also our residents.  The Care sector has often been criticised around the rewards structure for their staff and it is great that at Hartford Care we are able to financially recognise our team for the amazing work they do each and every day.”

This pay increase will in most cases be with immediate effect but in a small number of homes will take place early in 2016. The National Minimum wage is currently £6.70 with the National Living Wage as set by George Osborne in the autumn budget set to increase to £7.20 in April of next year. Sean Gavin feels this does not reflect the quality of staff that he sees when he visits the Hartford Homes.  “I am so proud of the way our teams look after our residents and go that extra mile to ensure they enjoy a great life with us.  We feel that it is only right to commit to our staff in the same way that they commit to our homes and our residents.”

Leah Mills Hartford’s HR Manager said “Our mission at Hartford Care is provide Care, Comfort and Companionship in an environment that is safe and happy for all, and this applies as much to our team members as it does to our residents and family carers. A Hartford Care home is an amazing place to live and work and we are proud to have an exceptional team who provide great care to our residents on a daily basis; I am absolutely delighted to be able to reward our team members with wages that go above the Government’s National Living Wage.”

Life at Hartford Care is governed by its three core principles of care, comfort and companionship.
