Yorkshire pair up for highly respected British care award

LaingBuisson-Care Industry News (200 x 100)The Independent Care Group is delighted to announce that its Chair and Chief Executive have been named as finalists for a top national award.

Mike Padgham, Chair, and Keren Wilson, Chief Executive, are joint finalists for the Outstanding Contribution accolade at the LaingBuisson Awards.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony hosted by MP Michael Portillo at London’s Lancaster Hotel on 11th November.

Mr Padgham said: “It is a great honour to have even been nominated with Keren for this prestigious award and we are extremely flattered.

“We are very proud of the work the Independent Care Group does in representing this wonderful sector and look forward to attending the ceremony in November.”

The awards this year celebrate their 10th year of “acknowledging, spotlighting and heralding the expertise and successes of independent and charity sector providers operating in UK healthcare services”.

They recognise work in such areas as innovation in care; excellence in dementia care; best commissioner; legal advisor and outstanding contribution. Some 28 awards will be presented.

This year’s board of judges includes: Dame Donna Kinnair of the Royal College of Nursing; Lene Gurney of the Association of Independent Healthcare Organisations (AIHO); Judith Brown of the National Autistic Society; Howard Lyons of Healthcare UK and Matt James of the Private Hospital Information Network (PHIN).

LaingBuisson CEO William Laing said: ‘Over the past decade it’s given me great pleasure to recognise and reward the invaluable contribution that private, independent and voluntary sector providers make to this economy.

“This special 10 years of excellence awards will be a truly unique occasion for leaders across the industry to gather on a single evening and celebrate the best in ability, performance and achievement.”

He added: ‘It is a chance for myself and LaingBuisson to apply over 30 years’ of experience immersed in independent healthcare to say ‘yes, these are the best in show’, whether that be in acute services, care of older people, dementia, homecare, learning disabilities, mental health, residential care or supported living – and indeed the valuable services which support these providers in financing, management and legal matters.’
