People from across the country who are supported by learning disability care provider CMG came together to celebrate the UK’s rich cultural diversity at an event in Croydon.
The Celebrating Culture day was attended by over 400 people and was opened by the town’s Mayor Councillor Patricia Hay-Justice. Through food, dance, dress and song, the event recognised the huge contribution different culture’s make to life in the UK.
There was a full programme of events for people to enjoy throughout the day. There was a chance to join in with performances from Bhangra dancers and Dhol players, there was an African drumming workshop and a fashion show, with many people in the native dress of their countries.
CMG provides residential care, supported living services and domiciliary care for people with learning disabilities and associated complex needs, including a number in Croydon and the South London area.
Peter Kinsey, Chief Executive of CMG, said:
“As an organisation, we are wholly committed to promoting diversity. This event gives the people we support the opportunity to learn about different cultures in a fun and engaging way.”
