WheatfieldresizeA Newcastle care home has plenty to celebrate after commemorating its 20th anniversary at a fun-filled community party, following a positive Care Quality Commission (CQC) report.

Wheatfield Court, which is operated by Akari Care, welcomed the public to the event, which featured live 1950s and 1960s entertainment, visits from local dignitaries, as well as various activities.

The care home had two reasons to celebrate after receiving a clean bill of health from independent regulator, the CQC, during the summer – after being rated ‘Good’ in all categories, which judges the home’s services based on safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and its leadership, following an unannounced inspection.

Barbara Davies, home manager at Wheatfield Court, said: “It was a fantastic occasion and it was great to involve the whole community in our 20th anniversary celebration, especially after our recent positive CQC inspection. The success is a testament to our dedicated team, who give their all to care for our residents and cater to their every need. However, we won’t rest on our laurels and will still continue in the same fashion, always striving not just to maintain high standards , but to build upon them further consistently providing a first class service.

“I would like to thank everyone who attended our party, which was well-received and enjoyed by all. Here’s to celebrating even more milestones in the future!”

Based on Wheatfield Road, Wheatfield Court care home, which is operated by Akari Care, provides residential, nursing and palliative care for up to 60 residents.
