Join Sunrise Senior Living this November and improve your understanding of dementia

Sunrise Senior Living-Care Industry News (300 x 162)Sunrise Senior Living is seeking to improve understanding of dementia across the UK and dispel the myths surrounding it. The specialist residential and dementia care provider is leading Resources to Remember, a national campaign which aims to transform the public’s outlook on dementia.

Between 2nd and 8th November, a series of events across all 27 Sunrise communities will provide guests with specialist advice on the everyday things they can do to help people living with memory loss as well as a chance to share stories, insights and experience. Every community will be hosting professionally led sessions and talks throughout the course of the week. This will give both the Sunrise staff and local healthcare professionals the opportunity to share best practice and information on dementia care programmes, whilst also educating friends, family members and neighbours about the condition.

Everyone who attends a Resources to Remember event will be given a free copy of Sunrise’s Memory Care Guide. Written by experts at the heart of care provision, the guide helps to give a better understanding of the challenges faced by people living with dementia.

Sunrise has been an established partner of Alzheimer’s Society’s Annual Research Conference for a number of years; all 27 of its communities are proud supporters of Alzheimer’s Society and regularly host events to raise money for the charity.

As part of the Resources to Remember campaign people will also have the opportunity to take full tours of Sunrise’s care facilities, including the Reminiscence Neighbourhoods, which are specially designed for people living with dementia.

Amanda Scott, Managing Director of Sunrise UK, said:

“The Sunrise Team is passionate about the work that they do for people who live with Alzheimer’s and dementia, and we are thrilled to be able to continue to reach out to the local areas and support them in this way.

“Less than half of us think we know enough about dementia*. The Resources to Remember campaign is a perfect opportunity to be able to invite people to improve their knowledge, by sharing the expertise of our wonderful staff and key professionals.”
