Major celebrations took place at Bollington care home Ingersley Court to mark the 104th birthday of Mabel Glover. With help from staff at the CLS-run care home, Mabel enjoyed a party with a performance by local soprano soloist Helen England.
Mabel celebrated her big day along with her family, staff, and residents, who enjoyed tea and birthday cake and entertainment from classically trained soloist Helen England – one of her favourite singers. Everybody joined in the fun to congratulate Mabel and wish her many more years of happiness.
Mabel, who enjoys a good sing-a-long, was spellbound by her evening entertainment. She commented: “I had a wonderful day and I loved Helen’s performance!” When asked about how it feels to reach 104, she laughed and replied: “I can’t believe I’ve made it this far!”
At 104, Mabel is still remarkably independent and joins in many of the activities hosted at Ingersley Court. She keeps active by participating in hand-eye coordination and armchair exercises, and can often be found telling jokes to staff and residents or enjoying a game of bingo.
Cheryl Brooks, activity coordinator at Ingersley Court, commented: “Mabel is fantastic. She has a great sense of humour, she loves to socialise, and she’s always so positive. Mabel has been at Ingersley Court for over 30 years – initially in the apartments and now at the care home – so we were all excited to make her 104th birthday extra-special. There was a great atmosphere during Helen’s performance, and everyone clearly enjoyed the chance to celebrate!”
