Residents at Holcroft Grange, the CLS-run care home in Culcheth, took a trip into the lion’s den recently as staff organised a ‘safari’ visit to some furry and feathered friends at Knowsley Safari Park.
A party of 25 fearless Holcroft Grange residents and staff enjoyed a journey through the park, fascinated by an incredible host of animals including grazing camels, majestic lions, and a couple of cheeky baboons.
After their walk on the wild side, residents made the best of a sunny September day as they enjoyed a picnic and a leisurely stroll through the park’s walk-around area and fairground.
“We like to offer our residents as many interesting and exciting experiences as we can, and this experience was certainly exciting!” commented Nicola Newens, activity coordinator at Holcroft Grange. “It was fantastic to have so many residents come together on the safari. Everyone loved being among the animals and took a real interest in seeing and learning about wildlife from all over the world.”
Knowsley Safari Park is a zoological park in Merseyside and is home to over 700 animals. The safari park contributes to conservation and research through links with several conservation projects and partnerships with universities.
