Residents at Sydmar Lodge Care Home in Edgware were all singing from the same song sheet after they launched their new choir, The Sydmar Singers.
The choir brings together up to 20 residents at Sydmar Lodge who diligently practice twice a week. The Sydmar Singers have been bringing song and dance to Sydmar Lodge as they flex their vocal chords to a wide range of popular tunes, which are chosen by choir members.
Rehearsals have been made all the more exciting with the help of some live music, all thanks to Robert Speker, Activities Coordinator at Sydmar Lodge, who is a skilled pianist. This means that the choir benefits from being accompanied during rehearsals by Robert playing along on the piano.
The choir has struck a chord with residents, who can be heard eagerly practicing in between rehearsals. With plenty of opportunities for hosting shows, the choir’s ambitions stretch through Edgware and beyond, and they will be putting in plenty of practice to make sure they continue to hit the high notes.
Robert Speker, Activities Coordinator at Sydmar Lodge, commented:
“The choir is a great opportunity for the Sydmar Lodge community to come together and focus on an enjoyable activity. The positive response from residents and staff has been overwhelming, and we look forward to our first concert!”
