One of the leading figures from America’s care sector was in town last week as he visited Sunrise Senior Living Communities in Fleet and Bagshot. Mark Parkinson, President and Chief Executive of the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living, stopped by as part of a tour in which he took the opportunity to learn about care services in the UK.
In his role, Parkinson represents more than 12,000 for- and not for-profit nursing homes, assisted living residences, and centres for the care of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Before leading AHCA/NCAL, the native Kansan was a successful businessman, state legislator, and most recently served as the 45th Governor of the State of Kansas.
Alongside meeting with Sunrise Director of Operations Laura Coupe, the former Governor toured the facilities and saw first-hand the outstanding care being provided, speaking to numerous Sunrise staff and residents.
Mark Parkinson said:
“I was impressed by the passion that I saw and how exceptional care has made its way across the ocean. The same commitment that Sunrise has to quality in the United States is in full force in the United Kingdom.”
Laura Coupe, Director of Operations at Sunrise Senior Living, said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome Mark to the UK. It was clear that he was impressed with how we run our operations which was a real boost given his tremendous experience in social and assisted care provision”.
