Leading health and social care provider, Westward Care proudly opened the doors last week to its latest development of 23 luxury independent living apartments for older people in a peaceful and leafy setting on Wetherby Road, close to beautiful Roundhay Park in Leeds.
Built at a cost of £3.2 million, the development was officially opened by its first apartment owners, John and Anna Chapman (both 88), who bought their home off plan and moved up from London last week. Four more owners are to move in over the coming weeks.
Anna said: “We’ve moved here to be closer to our daughter who lives in Leeds and, whilst it’s a very hard decision to make to leave the place you’ve lived in for many years, I can honestly say I wish we’d done this a long time ago. It’s like living in a luxury hotel and you have the choice of living completely independently or making the most of all the care and support services on offer. It’s a lovely part of the world to live too, with so many wonderful places on the doorstep.”
Westward Care is one of only a few companies in Yorkshire to offer independent living apartments with the provision of 24/7 in-house care and nursing support, which at Southlands is shared with the adjacent care home.
