Developers behind a major building project at a Surrey retirement village have marked the start of work with a special ceremony.
Representatives from operators Retirement Villages Group Ltd and its specialist construction partner Castleoak were joined by residents from Elmbridge Retirement Village in Cranleigh for a special turf-cutting ceremony.
The multi million pound project includes the provision of a new clubhouse, complete with auditorium, restaurant, library, bar and doctor’s surgery. Built above will be 18 one and two-bedroom apartments overlooking the established leafy grounds, which will be available to purchase.
David Phillips, Development Director of Retirement Villages, said:
“This is a very significant project for us as a business and illustrates our continuing investment in our village portfolio. We know Castleoak delivers quality, which is critical for both us and our residents.”
Castleoak Chief Executive, Mel Knight, added:
“We’re delighted to partner with Retirement Villages on this major investment into Elmbridge Retirement Village. Having driven efficiencies into the construction programme our attention now is on delivering the project. With more than 230 bungalows and apartments at the village, we’re working closely with the Village Manager and residents to keep everyone informed.”
Elmbridge Retirement Village is one of 14 in the Retirement Villages’ portfolio nationally. The company operates other villages in Lincolnshire, Warwickshire, Hertfordshire, West Sussex, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, Wiltshire, Essex and Oxfordshire.
