It was the hottest day of the year so far, so on the afternoon of Wednesday 15th April, staff at Connors House accompanied residents, Pat, Barbara and Edna on a trip to the garden centre to stock up on plants for the garden.
The residents had a lovely time wandering the aisles and looking for inspiration for their garden at Connors House. After filling up their trolley with some beautiful plants and some tasty local jams and chutneys, the residents were looking forward to getting back home and potting the plants, to prepare the garden for the summer months ahead.
All that shopping meant the residents had built up quite an appetite; the group made a well-deserved refreshment stop at the centre’s café for a cup of tea and slice of cake before heading back home.
Carolyn Riches, care coordinator at Connors House, who accompanied residents on the trip said: “The residents had a lovely afternoon exploring the garden centre, they really enjoyed choosing plants for the home and are looking forward to potting them in the garden.
“We find that many of our residents enjoy being involved with the maintenance of their home, whether that’s looking after the garden, helping with the laundry or setting the table at mealtimes. We are more than happy to support our residents with their wishes, as this is their home after all!”
