Appointment of new Director of Dementia Services for Barchester Healthcare

Care provider Barchester Healthcare is pleased to announce the appointment of its new Director of Dementia Services, Caroline Baker, who is due to start on 7th April 2015.

Formerly Director of Dementia Care at Four Seasons Healthcare, Baker brings with her a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge.

Her numerous achievements include winning the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 at the National Dementia Awards and publishing a book in November 2014 on developing excellent care for people living with dementia in care homes.

At the start of her career, Baker spent many years working as a Home Manager specialising in dementia care and she has also worked as a clinical specialist for the NHS. She has recently been an advisor with NAPP pharmaceuticals as part of a specialist group working to produce training materials on pain in dementia and remains on the advisory board of the Journal of Dementia Care.

Caroline Baker said: “I am really excited about beginning my new role. Barchester already have a great programme in place with Memory Lane and I look forward to meeting residents, relatives and staff to see how we can provide further support to continue improving the Memory Lane Communities. Everyone I have had contact with so far at Barchester has been so welcoming and shares the same person-centred ethos that is central to my approach to dementia care.”
