Shackletons New Business Project Manager Donna Butterworth swaps jobs

Donna Butterworth, New Business Project Manager at Shackletons, realises her love of interior design and customer relations after receiving an opportunity to job swap at the company’s HQ.

Responsible for driving and nurturing sales leads, Donna spends much of her time researching and networking to build awareness and understanding of Shackletons amongst specific target audiences.  But to encourage better communication between departments, and a big picture view of the company as a whole, Donna was able to take an active role in the complete customer order process.

From securing the initial sales lead to furbish a new build elderly care and dementia residential home in Mansfield, Donna was involved in developing the new client’s requirements from planning permission – through to initial designs including specialised bespoke products to suit the 5* care hotel theme, with Regional Sales Manager Sarah Thompson.

Working through the brief Donna helped interpret the care home’s needs and requirements.

“I was totally empowered to take an active role in the whole process – it was thoroughly liberating! To be able to meet with the client, work through their brief, and help with the interior designs and full turnkey package to suit their requirement; it’s provided me with a much greater understanding of how the company works- from a sales point of view through to delivery and installation – and beyond to the after sales care.

“I’ve learnt so much about designing for dementia, and how our products have a positive impact on the quality of care. The best bit was seeing first-hand how the environments we create put a smile on residents’ faces – I’m just so proud to be a part of that and can’t wait to get involved in the next project.” Says Donna.

Jason Bloom, National Sales Manager at Shackletons says: “We really want our staff to feel involved in everything we do. From enabling a better understanding about the business, its systems, processes and roles, we’re creating a culture of empowered individuals that make valuable contributions to the development of the company as a whole.”

Shackletons have been in the business of creating comfort for over 50 years and are the UK’s leading design and manufacturer of specialist contract furniture for the healthcare sector.
