Meridian Healthcare’s latest Premiere care home opened in the small West Yorkshire village of Denby Dale with its first resident, Mrs Dorothy Rhodes [pictured with her family at The Denby] moving in on 18th November. Fully registered with the care home regulator the Care Quality Commission, the home is designed to provide a touch of luxury, care and support for those who may feel they can no longer manage at home on their own.
The new home has been built on the site of a former disused factory and is a welcome addition to the village. Conveniently located opposite the bakery, the home has been made to feel very welcome by local residents who toured the home during an open weekend held in November. The Denby will accommodate up to 47 clients and offers single bedroom accommodation as well as larger suites. Every room has a ‘wet room’ style shower ensuite and residents can also make use of the specially designed Gym, Elegance Hair Salon and Serenity Spa.
Manager Holly Smedley said, “The support we’ve received from the village has been lovely. We’ve been made to feel extremely welcome. It’s clearly a service that people want because we reserved quite a number of rooms before we had even opened.” Holly is an experienced manager with an excellent CQC report from her previous home, Fir Trees in Dukinfield.
Meridian’s Premiere homes are aimed at those wishing to make a lifestyle change in later life. In particular, those who feel they can no longer cope on their own at home will benefit from the highest quality services and accommodation.
Meridian developed its premium range of care homes in 2011 and now has Premiere homes in Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Pudsey, Chester and Millbrook near Saddleworth. The group has worked with Yorkshire builder Conroy Brook on The Denby and award winning White Rose House in Holmfirth, The Oakes in Huddersfield and is about to start work on a new site in Garforth outside Leeds.
Meridian has over 20 years’ experience in the sector and grew out of local authority roots. As a result, the independent care operator is focused on providing excellent care and accommodation for the most vulnerable within the community.
