Glen Care, the specialist care provider, has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of two non-executive directors.
Peter Gilroy OBE and Dr Andres Fonseca bring a wealth of clinical and management experience to their new roles.
Peter Gilroy OBE spent eight years managing Kent Social Services, one of the largest social services departments in the country. His areas of responsibility included adult services, children’s services, child protection, physical and learning disabilities, mental health, asylum, community safety and drug and alcohol services. The Department secured and retained its top rating during his time as Strategic Director. He also chaired the multi-agency Kent Child Protection Committee (now called the Safeguarding Board) for 13 years. Mr Gilroy subsequently spent five years as Chief Executive of Kent County Council.
Dr Fonseca has 16 years experience in clinical psychiatry and is an old age psychiatrist with multiple publications in the field of neurodegenerative disorders. He spent almost five years as Medical Director at Cambian where he developed the medical department in Cambian from 7 to 40 doctors. He was responsible for the management of 30 consultant psychiatrists and 10 specialty doctors across mental health rehabilitation, forensic services, learning difficulty services, child and adolescent services, special education and neuropsychiatric services. He also managed a budget of circa £4 million.
Dr Fonseca was part of one of the earliest specialist diagnostic services for dementia and young onset dementia. He is an honorary senior lecturer at Roehampton University and a regular clinical lecturer at UCL covering dementia topics in various MSc programmes.
