Julian has extensive experience of managing secure and specialist hospitals for a number of highly successful organisations.
Julian has a background in education, training and legal services before moving into the care sector. He was the Hospital Manager of the Ayr Clinic, the first independent mental health hospital in Scotland before leaving to undertake a number of medium term ‘troubleshooting’ roles, for companies including Huntercombe, Riverside Healthcare, and Cygnet Healthcare.
Julian was responsible for delivering the top hospital in the Royal College (Medium Secure Unit) Peer review in 2010 and 2011 and was awarded the independent healthcare Apex award for innovation in 2013, for a project which enabled service users to undertake work programmes at Asda supermarkets.
Tony McLean, executive chairman of Glen Care, said: “I am delighted to welcome Julian to Glen Care. The care sector is constantly evolving and budget pressures on the NHS and local authorities are presenting challenges for independent providers. Innovative thinking and more specialised services are the way forward and I am looking forward to working with Julian to deliver these.
“Julian’s appointment demonstrates to commissioners, regulators and stakeholders, that Glen Care is committed to providing innovative, safe, high quality services – and bringing in the very best people to help deliver them.”
Julian Wenman said: “I have joined Glen Care at an exciting time as the company strives to evolve to meet the changing demands of the specialist care sector. I thrive on a challenge and I am looking forward to working with the team to ensure that our hospitals not only deliver quality care, but the services that the market demands.
“I believe passionately in the ‘good enough for my family’ test and this is the benchmark for quality I will be striving for.”
