Devonshire Court awarded prestigious dementia kitemark

RMBI (193 x 220)RMBI care home Devonshire Court in Leicester, has been recognised for its exceptional dementia care by obtaining the prestigious ‘Butterfly Service’ status kitemark.

 

Only a handful of care homes in the UK have been awarded the kitemark, and Devonshire Court joins five other RMBI care homes around the country to meet the tough criteria.

 

The ‘Butterfly Service’ status is a nationally recognised kitemark awarded by Dementia Care Matters to identify care homes which are committed to achieving excellent dementia care and providing residents with a high quality of life.

 

Agnieszka Faliszewska, a carer at Devonshire Court, said, “As a carer you’re in a situation where the residents are dealing with the complexity of living in an environment that isn’t fully within their realm of control, which can be disconcerting for them. At Devonshire Court we help residents to live their life in a dignified and balanced way.”

 

Care homes that can provide quality of care befitting ‘Butterfly Service’ status will help to ensure those with dementia receive the highest possible level of care.

 

Debra Keeling, Deputy Director of Care at the RMBI added, “To receive the ‘Butterfly Service’ kitemark at Devonshire Court demonstrates how dedicated the staff in our care homes are to providing exceptional care. We have made a substantial investment in dementia care training for staff and hold regular events and initiatives for our residents as part of our drive to support the welfare and wellbeing of our residents.

 

“We are committed to maintaining the highest quality of life for our residents and aim to continue providing excellent care as the number of people with dementia increases further over the next few years. We have been working closely with Dementia Care Matters since 2009, and with a number of other specialist dementia providers, to deliver our dementia care strategy. Dementia Care Matters works with care providers with the aim of improving the quality of life for residents of care homes – not only for those with dementia, but also for the other residents living in the same home.”

 

On Thursday 22nd January 2015 Devonshire Court are hosting an Open Day, giving you the chance to see the Home, listen to a short presentation on what it’s like to work there and hear about the career opportunities and training currently available. You’ll have the chance to speak to members of the team and hear first hand what it’s like to work at the Home. Light refreshments will be provided and the Home will be accepting CVs and application forms on the day.
