Meallmore wins two awards at Scottish Care

Meallmore-Care Industry NewsA long established family-owned care provider in Scotland has been recognised with two awards at a prestigious evening awards ceremony celebrating the brightest stars in the care profession.

Meallmore Ltd was announced as winner in the ‘Nutrition and Eating Well’ award, while their Greenock Care Home, Kincaid House, took the title ‘Dementia Service Award’ from over 300 entries at the Scottish Care Awards 2014.

The glittering Scottish Care awards ceremony, held at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on Friday, 21 November celebrated the cream of the industry.

Since opening its first care home, Meallmore Lodge in Inverness in 1987, Meallmore has grown to become one of Scotland’s leading providers of private residential nursing and dementia care with a network of 22 care homes across Scotland.

Alongside boasting some of the best care grades in Scotland the company has created a sustainable business, through difficult economic times, being able to re-invest in the homes, build new state-of-the art care homes and being at the forefront of innovative technology to ensure clients have the best of care and staff have a working environment fit for purpose.

As well as the ‘Nutrition and Eating Well’ and ‘Dementia Services’ categories, Meallmore  also had finalists in the Specialist Adult Service Care award category – Manor Care Centre – and Ancillary and Support Staff award category – Housekeeper at Meallmore Lodge – both based in Inverness.

Gerry Hennessey, Managing Director of Meallmore Ltd, said: “These finalist nominations and category award winners are testament to all of the hard work our staff put in to ensuring our residents are well looked after.

“We firmly believe that providing nutritious healthy meals should continue to be a stimulating experience which can be shared among our residents. Investing time in getting to know what our residents want and like gives us the benchmark of where to start with our menus. We then put our expertise and passion to work to help complete the package.  Every meal is then prepared using fresh locally sourced ingredients by our highly trained chefs and catering teams.

“We are very proud of our team at Kincaid House who have worked in partnership with our residents, relatives and local professionals to ensure the level of care and support provided has a tremendous impact on the lives of our residents with a diagnosis of dementia. Families, friends and visiting professionals all remark on our staff’s positive approach and the opportunities residents have to live their life as fully as possible. Many simple and straightforward changes and approaches are used to engage our residents and reduce their level of distress which has resulted in a marked reduction of medication usage.”
