Specialist care provider Glen Care has appointed Lee Houghton as its Chief Operating Officer. A qualified Occupational Therapist, Lee brings many years of experience in both clinical and managerial roles to the position.
Lee, who also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management, has worked on many projects including the redesign of a mental health day hospital service to create a Well-Being Centre, for which the service won first prize at the South East Coast NHS Best of Health Awards for Success in Partnership Working. Lee has also been awarded the STAR Award for Leadership from Surrey & Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Lee re-joins Glen Care from Vista Healthcare Independent Hospital after previously working for Glen Care as Director of Therapeutic Services.
Her focus will be on providing leadership to ensure that the services achieve a high quality of care and ensure all services provide safe effective care to service users, which exceed the standards demanded by the Care Quality Commission and NHS Commissioners.
In her spare time, Lee is a disabled ski guide where she utilises her Occupational Therapy skills to enable people with a disability or illness to ski by using different techniques or using adapted equipment. Lee is also an advisor for the College of Occupational Therapists’ Consultancy Service.
Lee said: “I am really looking forward to taking up the role of Chief Operating Officer. Glen Care is a company I am very familiar with and we both share similar ambitions when it comes to healthcare.”
“Glen Care is always looking at ways to further enhance its services and a number of exciting and innovative projects are planned.”
“Compliance and quality are vitally important factors across the sector and the Care Quality Commission’s regime is more robust than ever. Nobody working in the care sector can afford to let standards slip and we need to ensure Glen Care works towards providing the highest quality of care.”
