New Barnsley care home, Ward Green Lodge officially welcomed its first residents last week, Pamela Grist and Iris Haigh, who moved into the home to enjoy the new luxurious facilities.

 

Pamela Grist was born and bred in Barnsley. After her school years, Pamela started work as a bakery delivery driver, where she met her husband Roy in 1955 and together they had 3 daughters and 7 grandchildren. Pamela enjoys baking, dog showing and flower arranging, which she continues to enjoy at Ward Green Lodge.

 

Iris Haigh was born in 1937 and lived in Blacker Hill. Iris married husband Alan in 1957 and together they had 6 children. Iris worked in the offices at the National Coal Board until she retired.

 

The prestigious new care home boasts 64 bedrooms with en suite wet rooms, hairdressing salon, café, courtyard gardens and highly trained compassionate and caring staff.

 

Ward Green Lodge was built by LNT Construction, a specialist developer of high quality, state-of-the-art care homes which incorporate the latest facilities in dementia care and age appropriate design, as well as being highly energy efficient, meeting the 2020 eco requirements.
