On Friday 10 October 2014, the Mayor of Biggleswade, Councillor Mrs Hazel Ramsay officiated the official opening of a £1.9 million extension and refurbishment project at Beaumont Park Nursing Home, a Healthcare Homes residential nursing home.   The extension project was completed on schedule and sees the creation of 12 new en-suite bedrooms, plus a purpose-built kitchen and new laundry facilities.

Originally built in the 1840’s, Beaumont Park, which is located on Shortmead Street in the heart of Biggleswade, has also benefited from an extensive refurbishment programme so all rooms meet the modern standards of the brand new wing.  The building works were carried out by Colchester contractors Horizon Construction Limited, who sympathetically extended the home to ensure it remained in keeping with the original Victorian manor house façade.

Commenting on the extensive works that have taken place at Beaumont Park Nursing Homes, Cllr Ramsay, Mayor of Biggleswade said: “The work that has been undertaken at the nursing home really is of the highest standard.  The exterior works have ensured the original look and feel of the Victorian property has been retained, whilst providing a host of new facilities that help the team provide vital care and support services to even more people from around Biggleswade. Congratulations to all involved in bringing the extension and refurbishment project to a successful conclusion.”

David Bates, Chief Operating Officer, Healthcare Homes Group said: “We are proud to today officially open the new extension at Beaumont Park, as well as mark the completion of the renovation project.  The team has worked tirelessly to create modern, comfortable rooms, which have been tastefully finished with high quality fittings.  We would also like to thank the team for working in a courteous manner to ensure minimal disruption to our existing residents.  The end result really is superb.”

Concludes David Bates:  “I would also like to extend our gratitude to the Mayor of Biggleswade, Councillor Hazel Ramsay, for officiating at the opening ceremony.  Everyone at Healthcare Homes and Beaumont Park really appreciate your time and enthusiasm.”

Set in the town of Biggleswade, Beaumont Park can now accommodate provide high quality nursing and residential care to up to 46 residents. It is a well-regarded home with spacious surroundings and extensive landscaped gardens. A large ornamental pond, stocked with Koi Carp, provides an attractive focal point and the diversity of colourful shrubs and plants give year round colour.
