Hartford Care-Care industry NewsStaff at Woodlands House Residential Care Home in the New Forest recently hosted a wonderful open day for friends, family and members of the local community.

Woodlands House is something of a hidden jewel, being tucked away in Woodlands Road, near Netley Marsh, so the team decided to hold the open day in order to let the local community find out a little bit more about them.

The open day also coincided with Woodland’s resident, Gwen’s birthday so staff decided to turn the afternoon into a joint celebration and provided live musical entertainment, a stunning home-made birthday cake and of course a drop or two of bubbly!

Staff and residents were also delighted to be joined by Councillor Maureen Holding, Chairman of the New Forest District Council and Councillor Colin Davidovitz, Chairman of Hampshire County Council, who both enjoyed a tour of the impressive accommodation and then spent the afternoon chatting with residents, family carers and staff.

Both councillors expressed how impressed they were with the standard of care and facilities on offer at Woodlands House. Councillor Holding said “The atmosphere is very homely and the residents told me how happy they are. The birthday party was enjoyed by all. It was a privilege to share it with them – I was happy to be there. The care is superb.”

Councillor Davidovitz agreed, saying “This has been a most enjoyable visit. At a time when care homes have come under criticism it is good to visit a home which is so well maintained and has such caring staff. Residents told me how much they liked their accommodation and how well they are looked after.”
