Glen Care hosts ‘best practice’ specialist dementia forums


Glen Care-Care Industry News (200 x 96)Specialist care provider Glen Care is using its expertise to host a series of forums aimed at sharing knowledge and good practice.


The first events, discussing the management of Neuropsychiatric symptoms in Dementia, took place in Bristol and London led by Dr Andres Fonseca.


Dr Fonseca, who has 16 years experience in clinical psychiatry, is an old-age psychiatrist with multiple publications in the field of neurodegenerative disorders.  He was part of one of the earliest specialist diagnostic services for dementia and young onset dementia.    He is honorary senior lecturer at Roehampton University and honorary lecturer at UCL covering dementia topics on MSc programmes.


The well-attended workshops received excellent satisfaction scores from the healthcare professionals involved:-

  • 97% rated Glen Care learning content as excellent
  • 96% rated Glen Care workshop presentation as excellent
  • 94%  – overall satisfaction rate on Glen Care workshop


Dr Fonseca said:  “As professionals working at the frontline of dementia, and other neuro-cognitive conditions, it is essential we share our experiences and best practice.


“The rising incidence of dementia is a common feature in the media and for the general public it is the greatest health fear among over 55s.


“The workshops were very well received and Glen Care is planning further forums across the country to continue its ethos of sharing information to continually drive standards across the sector.”
