pecialist property adviser Christie + Co have sold Holywell Bay, a former care home in the popular Cornish town of Newquay.
Originally a 1980’s coaching hotel, Holywell Bay traded as a care home for over 20 years prior to its closure at the end of 2013.
The property was sold to Morleigh Group Ltd for an undisclosed sum, but it was marketed at a guide price of £525,000 for the freehold interest
Morleigh Group directors, locals Steve and Tricia Juleff, own and operate nine care homes in Cornwall, making them one of the largest providers in the county. The couple look forward to opening the doors to new residents once again.
Christie + Co were instructed to sell the property in April this year and report that multiple offers were received for the 49-bedroom property
Simon Harvey, Director at Christie + Co, comments: “We are delighted to have been able to successfully complete the sale of the former home in a very short space of time. The majority of offers made were in excess of the guide price — this level of interest goes to show that even in unfortunate circumstances where care homes are forced to close, there is still most definitely a market for them which is also very positive for the care sector. We wish Steve and Tricia all the best with their new venture.”
