Two committed team members from the same care company have scooped awards in a coveted ceremony organised by Care Forum Wales.
Care worker Leighton Sanders from Mountain Ash and Julian Edwards from Abergavenny, who is a health and safety officer, both work for Q Care Ltd. They were each presented with Silver Awards at the 2014 Care Awards, which took place at Cardiff’s City Hall on October 24.
Leighton works in domiciliary care had been shortlisted in the ‘Supported Living or Small Group Community Living Practitioner’ category for his work with people living at home that need additional support and care. He has worked for the company since 2012 and as well as being a support worker he also assists with the training of new staff.
“I am absolutely delighted to have been presented with an award,” said Leighton. “I’m committed to supporting the people I care for. I go into their homes and have to build up a rapport and trust to make them comfortable. It’s nice to be recognised for the work that I do and I’m so pleased that I received a Silver Award.”
“I was taken aback when I heard I had been nominated for an award,” said Julian. “I was even more amazed when I was presented with a Silver Award. It was such a prestigious event and I’m really delighted that my work has been recognised in such a way. It’s really nice to be appreciated for the work that you do.”
Tony Dainty, managing director of Q Care Ltd, praised Julian and Leighton for the dedication and commitment they give to their roles. He said: “To be presented with Silver Awards at such a high profile and recognised event is testament to Julian and Leighton’s hard work. They both work in completely different areas of the company but they each provide a vital service and I am delighted that they have received awards.”
Now with seven regional branches, Q Care Ltd has been providing care and support for nearly 20 years to help people remain independent in their own homes across Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and much of South Wales.
