The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) has announced the participants in a pilot assessment programme for the accreditation of care home inspections. The voluntary scheme is for organisations that perform inspections of residential adult social care providers and aims to improve the standard of care. Of the several applications that UKAS received, Healthcare Management Solutions Ltd, RDB Star Ltd and The Audit People Ltd have been selected to participate in pilot programme.
The pilot assessment programme commenced is due to be completed in December 2015. During this period, UKAS will assess participants for competence, impartiality and performance against the international standard ISO/IEC 17020:2012 (Conformity assessment – Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection).
Lal Ilan, Development Manager, UKAS said. “On completion of the pilot programme, UKAS will announce the accreditation of successful inspection bodies, and their specific fields of expertise in social care such as dementia, learning difficulties, nursing, mental health, domiciliary care etc. This will provide a clear market differentiator to accredited inspection organisations that and help generate confidence in the standards and quality of care offered by residential adult social care providers.”
