Ansell, along with special guests Charlotte Jaconelli – of Britain’s Got Talent fame -and Opera North’s Lucy Sherman, performed a fully acoustic evening of classic opera and musical theatre hits to a packed house at the beautiful venue on Duchy Road.
This unique concert was given in aid of local charity The Avalon Group, who this year celebrate 20 years of supporting people in the community; providing flexible care, support and companionship for everyday life, as well as housing, learning and employment, so that they can live the lives they choose.
The crowd were treated to deeply intimate renditions of classics such as Amazing Grace and Love Changes Everything, and were encouraged to join in for a blistering performance of You’ll Never Walk Alone, which was one of the many highlights of the evening.
After the event Ansell said “It was a real thrill to play my part in helping The Avalon Group to celebrate their anniversary, and to perform in such a perfect church setting”
Group CEO Larry Hollando echoed this sentiment, announcing that “the last 20 years have been a stellar success for Avalon.
“We would like to thank the community and all those who support the important work we do. We look forward to the next 20 years and beyond as we continue to bring fulfilment and safe support to the lives of those who need us the most”.
For those unable to attend the event, The Avalon Group, in collaboration with Jonathan Ansell, have released some exclusive live footage of the concert via their YouTube channel; avalongroupmedia.
