There has been a lot of going on at Norwood Grange Care Home in Sheffield recently, summer fetes, garden parties, and open days to name a few. The most recent excursion was a summer trip. A group of residents and staff visited Cleethorpes for an afternoon at the seaside.
The 35 bedded home, which became part of the Country Court Care Group in April 2012, and specialises in dementia care, has begun to build itself an excellent reputation.
The event also saw many residents of Norwood Grange, Sheffield spend the day enjoying the amusements and eating fish and chips . Staff at Norwood Grange, and across Country Court Care Group consider it extremely important that its homes and their residents have prolonged integration with the local community. It is planned excursions like this that aims to facilitate this community integration.
Country Court Care has also recently chosen to become a sponsor of a dementia initiative at a local hospital. The initiative was recently devised by the staff of Peterborough City Hospital, and was designed to challenge common perceptions of dementia. The scheme will also act as a stimulant for people living with dementia, when they visit the hospital.
Peterborough City Hospital will be filled with “Dementia Rummage Boxes”. The contents of the boxes will include materials with different textures, colours and smells – all of which are designed to stimulate. All contents and the boxes themselves were funded by Country Court Care.
Discussing the Dementia Rummage Boxes, Managing Director of Country Court Care, Alykhan Kachra stated: “I’m really pleased that the opportunity for us to get involved with this initiative presented itself. We are always striving to engage with our local communities and this was a fantastic opportunity. I feel this also further demonstrates our commitment to providing bespoke residential, dementia and nursing care. We hope the boxes are thoroughly enjoyed!”
The staff members from Tallington Rest Home, which sits in the peaceful village of Tallington, Lincolnshire, and is part of the Country Court Care Group, managed to raise a whopping £250! They went from Tallington to Crowland Abbey and back, which in total is a very impressive 25 miles.
The bike ride was organized to raise money for the rest home’s comfort fund. This fund will go towards excursions and activities for the residents.
Tracey Colley, manager of Tallington Care Home stated: “I’m very proud and happy to say that my two sons managed to raise a wonderful £200 for the residents comfort fund. This will do so much for them.”
