Priory Group-Care Industry NewsBosses at the Priory Group, the leading provider of children’s and adolescent mental health services in the UK, are hoping to make a big splash for a children’s charity by taking part in Dragon Boat Races in Brighton on Sunday!

The senior managers will become the ‘Priory Pirates’ during the spectacular event in the inner harbour, Marina Square, on Sunday September 28.

The Races, which are in aid of the Rockinghorse charity, which raises money for resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies, will feature boats that accommodate teams of 12 – 16 people.

The Priory team will include: Priory Healthcare Managing Director, Trevor Torrington, Operations Directors Steve Conway, Alison Pleszak, Jim Willis and Gair Stott, Director of Quality Rebekah Cresswell, Service Line Directors Paul Cowans, Peter Smith, Paul Bentham, Amanda Sellers and Michele Paley, Private and Corporate Managing Director Tony Urwin, HR Business Partner Jacolyn Fergusson and Business Operations and Projects Director Ian Coldrick.

Trevor Torrington, Priory Healthcare Managing Director, who is leading the ‘Priory Pirates’, said: “Priory is the biggest children’s mental health provider in the UK, so raising money for Rockinghorse to deliver life-saving equipment for children and babies is a cause very close to our hearts.”

The ‘Priory Pirates’ are making sure they will be ‘match fit’ for the day by taking part in land-based exercises including practising drill commands,  oar strokes and rowing in sync with each other.

The team is hoping to raise about £1,000 for the charity.

Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based charity which has been supporting children for more than 45 years. It is the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (The Alex) and also supports the Trevor Mann Baby Unit (TMBU), by raising money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment.

In 2012, 45,580 children and babies were treated in the Alex and the Trevor Mann Baby Unit.

The Priory Dragon Boat Racing team has set up a JustGiving page for people who would like to support their efforts in aid of the Rockinghorse charity https://www.justgiving.com/PrioryPirates
