Residents and members of staff at Redworth House, which is based in Shildon and part of Bondcare Shaftesbury, invited members of the community to a fun summer fair, which raised £450 .00 for the home’s comfort fund.
Members of staff dressed up as their favourite Disney characters for the Disney-themed event and everyone enjoyed a visit from some feathered friends, courtesy of Ridgeside falconry of Kirk Merrington with their Birds of Prey.
Visitors also enjoyed facepainting, stalls selling jewellery, cakes and refreshments, a tombola and games for all ages to enjoy.
All the funds raised will be put towards extra treats for the residents during the summer months.
Based on Byerley Road, Redworth House provides nursing and residential care for up to 57 residents. The home predominantly offers nursing and residential care for elderly residents, including those with dementia, but has a third unit on site that accommodates six residents with learning disabilities.
Joan McNeil, Manager at Redworth House, said: “Our annual summer fair is an important date in the home’s calendar as it is a fantastic event that brings the community together.
“Residents really enjoy the activities, entertainment and especially like getting to meet and chat to members of our local community.
“We raised a fantastic amount that will be put to great use and we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along.”
