Bupa-Care industry newsYing Ho, a resident at Bupa’s Brunswick Court Nursing Home on Stratford Road in Watford has celebrated her 111th Birthday.

On Friday 13th June Ying’s relatives and staff in the home held a special party to mark her reaching such an impressive age. The home arranged an afternoon tea party and a birthday cake for Ying, her family and other residents living in the home to enjoy.

Ying, who was born in 1903, is originally from Hong Kong and moved to the UK in 1947 to help her son run his Chinese restaurant business in Portsmouth. She has two children and many grandchildren who she loves to visit her in the home.

Ying has lived in Bupa’s Brunswick Court Nursing Home since 2012. She previously lived in another Bupa home in Portsmouth but moved to be closer to her family living in and around Watford.

Wendy Walker, Home Manager at Bupa’s Brunswick Court Nursing Home said:

“Ying is a very special lady and we love having her live with us in the home.

“We were delighted to celebrate such a remarkable birthday with Ying and all her family.”

Ying Ho is the oldest resident living in one of Bupa’s care homes.

Ying enjoys listening to music and particularly enjoyed the home’s celebrations for National Care Home Open Day on Friday 20 June. Residents, their families and visitors enjoyed a steel band that the home arranged for their Caribbean-themed day.

The home in Watford joined thousands of other homes across the country to celebrate the day which aims to encourage local people and community groups to visit their local care home, join in their activities and help residents, family members and staff celebrate the day.

It also gives local communities a chance to see how thousands of caring people are working hard every day to provide a safe and happy home for frail people.
