Joanna Fryers, from Urmston, has been appointed registered manager at Manorhey Care Centre by Manchester’s industry leading care home operator, New Care Projects.
Joanna, aged 29, has worked within the care sector for over a decade. In her new role, she takes full responsibility for the 83 bed facility, all its residents and the 85-strong staff. She is tasked with ensuring the home is compliant with CQC regulations, including infection control, for which Manorhey recently achieved an impressive 90% rating – one of the Best in Trafford.
Within the remit of the role, Joanna’s most challenging job is managing the staff, making sure they meet the home’s exacting requirements and overseeing their ongoing training and development.
Joanna joined Manorhey as a care assistant when it opened in 2010, progressing to deputy manager and acting registered manager over the last four years. Well qualified for the registered manager position, Joanna has a level 5 diploma in leadership and management.
She says: “I have always wanted to work in the care sector and knew early on that managing a home was the job for me. With that in mind, I combined work with further education, gaining all the necessary qualifications.
“I am privileged to work for New CareProjects, a progressive company that has supported me over the years, providing a personalised development plan to help me achieve my goals. Its philosophy to continually improve is something I share. Manorhey is a superb facility offering quality care and I firmly believe it is one of the best homes in the North West – something I will strive to retain as registered manager.”
Chris McGoff, CEO of New Care Projects, comments: “Joanna has worked at Manorhey since it opened and as the home has developed, so too has Joanna, and I am thrilled she has been accepted by the CQC and appointed registered manager.”
Joanna concludes: “Providing the best possible care for our residents is at the heart of Manorhey and it is my wish to continue this. I get most pleasure when my residents are well cared for, treated with respect and happy.”
Due to get married next year, Joanna lives in Urmston with her finance Richard. When not working, she enjoys spending time with her family and walking the dog.
