A team of staff from Boulters Lock residential care home in Maidenhead thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a charity walk to raise funds for The Alzheimer’s Society last weekend.

On Sunday afternoon, they walked the ten mile route from Windsor Castle back to the home in just over three hours. They received some great support along the way with many local people stopping to donate to this worthwhile cause.

The team have raised almost £1,000 from donations made online via the Just Giving page and cash donations made on the day.

The team was made up of Home Manager Paul Morris, Deputy Manager Mary Davey, Maintenance Assistant Andy Moyse and Carers Marie Townshend, Marie Ogilvie and Ashleigh Newman.

When the team arrived back at Boulters Lock they were greeted by staff and residents at the gate and they then enjoyed a celebratory party, where they raised even more money by singing karaoke!

Home Manager, Paul Morris said “This is a charity very close to our hearts and we were all delighted to be able to take part and raise much needed funds for a very worthy cause. It was a great day (apart from a few blisters and a bit of sun burn!) and we were delighted with the welcome home we received from residents, family carers and our colleagues when we arrived back at Boulters Lock.”
