The Priory the UK’s leading independent provider of mental health, learning disability and specialist education services, is delighted to announce that Tom Riall has formally taken up his position as Chief Executive Officer of the Group.

Tom joins the Priory from FTSE100 company Serco Group plc where he was Chief Executive of the Global Services Business.   In his new role,  he will continue to build on the strength of the Priory’s care pathway service offering as well as ensuring the business is well positioned to manage the transition of the healthcare commissioning reforms which will be implemented imminently.

Tom Riall, Chief Executive Officer, said:

“I am delighted to be taking up the post as CEO of the Priory today.  The Priory’s brand is synonymous with excellent patient care and I’m keen to build on this position and continue the Group’s impressive growth to date.

“This is a diversified business which operates in a complex and evolving sector.  At a time when the health and social care system in England is undergoing significant reforms, we remain focused on providing high quality services tailored to the needs of patients and their families.  Priory is well placed to continue to deliver the best possible outcomes for the patients and the NHS.  I believe that my experience and expertise will ensure the business is well placed to respond to these challenges.”

Mike Jeffries, Chairman of the Priory, added:

“The Priory is an impressive business, with a network of over 275 facilities across the country.  Leading a business of this size, in a complex sector during a period of unprecedented change in commissioning in the NHS  is a challenge.  However, from his previous experience, we are confident that Tom has the full suite of credentials that a CEO needs to meet these challenges.  I am delighted to welcome him onboard.”

Tom will now begin a 100 day induction programme to fully grasp the intricate workings of the business across the country.
