Cheers for a Grape Cause -Sunrise Senior Living
A wine tasting event held at Sunrise of Edgbaston, the high quality nursing and dementia care community, raised £308 for the Edwards Trust, a children’s and families charity. The event was kindly sponsored by local financial advisors, Nick Shioleftou from Senior Living Specialists and Darrel Lay from HL Consulting.
Residents and local business owners were treated to an evening of wine tasting hosted by wine connoisseur Ian Harvey from The Wine Tasting Company. Guests enjoyed a fascinating insight into Ian’s expertise, with discussions on the many grape varieties and the processes and flavours behind wine making. His presentation also included a section on pairing wines with food, and guests were able to try out their freshly educated palates with an assortment of hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening.
The evening was rounded off with a quiz to test guests’ newly acquired knowledge of wines, and many of the guests generously purchased a teddy bear, knitted by resident Hilda Bearman to raise more funds for the Edwards Trust.
Speaking after the event, General Manager Pauline Hunter said:
“The event was a great success- we all enjoyed learning something new and knowing the money is going to such a great cause made it extra special. I am proud to say that I now know my Sauvignons from my Chardonnays! ”
