A West Yorkshire manufacturer has unveiled a new range of furniture based on the Union flag.

“We are flying the flag on behalf of Britain and British manufacturing,” said Richard Spencer, chairman of James Spencer & Co, based in Wilsden, Bradford.

The firm is a leading UK manufacturer of furniture for the healthcare industry. Its ‘Up The Flagpole’ furniture launch range incorporates chairs, suites, footstools, cushions and pouffes. All are manufactured in-house using its own-design fabrics.

Mr Spencer said: “Patriotism is at an all-time high for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics. This provided us with the inspiration and impetus to develop and introduce the Up The Flagpole range and we have major plans to expand it in the future.

“We have invested heavily in research and development, along with our own ‘aged’ finish fabric designs. These are high-end products aimed at the healthcare and corporate markets as a distinctive centrepiece in the care home, office or reception area. “

James Spencer & Co, which celebrated its own diamond jubilee in 2008, has now launched an uptheflagpole.co.uk website. The new range is also on display at the firm’s 3,000 sq ft showroom and assessment centre in Wilsden.
