There was a flutter of excitement a little while ago at Lindsay Hall Nursing Home; Manager Lyn Foster was going to marry ‘her’ Steve Winter which was a little confusing because this is also the name of her boss!
The Operations Director of the Home’s owners, Galleon Care is also called Steve Winter and the only thing they have in common is their name.
But so important is it to satisfy the regulators that Galleon had to clear with the local authority that the Steve Winter Lyn was marrying was nothing to do with the care home, thus avoiding the any risk of future misunderstandings.
Lyn says: ‘My’ Steve knows nothing about care homes! We’ve known each other a very long time – we originally met at Sidmouth Folk Festival 25 years ago when we became dance partners at the Festival ‘ceildhs’. We’ve also both been Morris dancers and Steve is now a drummer while I am now dancing with a female clog dance team – the Treacle Tarts.”
But there was no room for clog dancing in Thailand where the couple honeymooned; Lyn and Steve were looking around Buddhist temples and going elephant trekking and not a clog in sight!
Chuckling, Julien Payne, Managing Director of Galleon Care Homes, owners of the home, says: “It’s a good thing ‘our’ Steve didn’t go to their wedding I guess. But we do all wish Mr. & Mrs Steve Winter a very happy life together!”
