THE MANAGER of an £8 million Colten Care nursing home due to open in Winchester has begun putting her 80-strong staff team in place.
Anne-Marie Medd, who has nearly 30 years’ experience as a home manager, will head the dedicated dementia care home, St Catherines View, in Stanmore Lane.
The new purpose-built home has 56 en-suite bedrooms and offers specialist, therapeutic facilities including themed activity rooms for music and reminiscence work.
The focus is on retaining life skills for as long as possible through shared daily activities in five dedicated house groups of up to 15 residents.
As with other Colten Care homes, every member of staff, irrespective of their job role, goes on a dementia care course to fully understand and play their part in delivering quality care.
Mrs Medd said: “We’ve already appointed a number of very skilled care staff including registered nurses with experience in caring for people living with dementia. It’s a privilege to be taking the reins. It’s not often that you are given the opportunity to be in at the start of something like this. I will really enjoy building a great team, working well together.”
A marketing suite at St Catherines View will welcome visitors from the end of March ahead of the home’s opening in May.
