Unfortunately, not everyone is ‘to the Manor born’, but there is a new concept in care allowing people this luxury in their retirement.
Nowton Court is a 19th Century Country Manor Care Hotel, nestled on the edge of Nowton Park, on the outskirts of historic market town Bury St Edmunds. Working with care home consultants, Wright Care Home Solutions, Nowton hopes to bring knowledge of this fabulous care provision to the wider public.
Converted into 25 luxurious rooms, with stylish en suites, it provides exquisite living arrangements for people aged 55 and over and retirees who are still quite independent, but perhaps no longer wish to live on their own, or want a bit of help with the domestic side of life; Nowton Court offers a sublime transitional phase between living at home and perhaps going in to a care home later in life.
Residents have meals provided which are cooked in the restaurant using local produce as far as possible, and served in the magnificent dining room, complete with grand piano.
All domestic duties like laundry and room cleaning are provided and if residents wish to order a taxi into town they simply call the concierge who will do this for them. Or perhaps they prefer to spend a peaceful afternoon with a good book in the oak panelled library with tapestries and original fire place.
The hotel is staffed 24 hours a day with an emergency response system in place should this be required.
If a resident later has need for some ‘hands-on’ care; help with dressing; bathing, then arrangements can be made for local domiciliary care to visit; paid for by the individual like it would be if they were at home.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, there is also an exquisitely designed Health Spa/Wellbeing Centre on site, situated in the old wine cellar under red brick archways. Treatments, including massages and facials, are paid for individually and the Spa is also open to the public.
